Zbraslav square’s historical context is too important, but yet undefined. Currently the square is dominated by a crossroad and green leftover triangles, fragmented spac-es that lack public space quality. Merging together these four triangles and eliminating the crossroad creates a 40x40m literal
square, a framework for occupation. It is vast and almost hostile to pedestrians but can adapt to big events.
The space around is a series of small in-terconnected activity pockets filtered by intense
landscape and related to the surrounding buildings’ existing program. Between the defined square
and the city there is a steel structure that makes an exception and engulfs the WWI memorial,
saving it from the town’s palimpsest. Flea market, Expo, Zbraslav-Jílovište Show, and Concerts are
four specific events that will take place.
The square and the frame define the en-closed event while the sloped morphology of the landscape
ensures service vehicles accessibility.
