This 12 sqm studio renovation focuses on increasing perceived space and maximizing natural light. The bathroom partition gave place to a glassbrick wall, adding natural light to the previously artificially lit bathroom. The slightly reflective floor surface contributes to a brighter interior.

The intervention consists of three primary materially distinct elements: the bed, the storage, and the bathroom vanity. A 15 cm pipe running along the perimeter of the room led the design for a raised custom bed platform that extends to a small bookcase and accommodates storage space underneath. The previously fragmented wardrobe, study area and cabinets are consolidated into a single compact container wall. The bright white bathroom gets a colourful and space efficient vanity.

The use of largely untreated materials like unpainted moisture-resistant MDF for the wardrobe, pine plywood for the bed structure, and galvanized steel reduce construction cost significantly while keeping the surfaces textured and tactile.
